Just Egg Plant Based Patty

Just Egg Plant Based Folded Patties are available now at Whole Foods Market

Effective January 1, 2021, I decided to become vegetarian. After my experiment with vegetarianism in the Summer 2020, I didn’t look at meat the same and, considering all of the DELICIOUS protein alternatives I was able to find, I figured January would be the best time to make a clean break.

Since I had so much success finding alternatives to meat, I figured I’d give egg alternatives a try too! This brought me to the JUST Egg Plant Based Patties.

What’s Included?

The JUST Egg Plant Based Folded Patties come with four frozen, individually wrapped, pre-seasoned patties. The patties are also pre-cooked so it’s just a matter of warming them up.

Instructions for Use

The JUST Egg Plant Based Folded Patties can be cooked using one of the following appliances:

  • A Toaster
  • A Skillet
  • An Oven
  • A Microwave

Although the toasting method is considered the “chef’s choice”, I prefer the skillet method and, in place of a skillet, I used a frying pan.

The JUST Egg patties are prepared in just a few easy steps:

  1. Warm up your oil (or butter) in a frying pan over medium heat
  2. Place your JUST egg patty, frozen, in the pan
  3. Cook on medium-low heat until heated through (should take about 2-3 minutes on each side)
  4. Remove from heat and enjoy!

Texture and Taste

One of my pre requisites when choosing a vegan or vegetarian alternative is taste and texture. This is my third attempt at finding an egg alternative; the first two were discarded due to the taste being too bland and the texture being too delicate. But not with these plant-based patties!


The flavor of these vegan eggs are magnificent! Having been raised on Southern cuisine, I’m partial to generously seasoned food. It’s important to me that the tastes of salt and spice are prominent. The JUST egg patties achieve this, naturally! With their notes of garlic, salt and turmeric, you can eat these patties as is without having to add even a grain of salt!

I would describe the taste as flavorsome.


As for texture, these are not only enjoyable but, accurate. As mentioned, the previous egg alternatives I’ve tried were too tender. I prefer that the texture of my eggs lean toward the fluffier side. Visually, I could tell during preparation that these patties were going to be on point and, when I bit into my JUST egg patty, I was not disappointed.

They mimic the texture of eggs perfectly, and, I dare say, the best of any egg alternative I’ve tried.

I would describe the texture as fluffy.

I recommend this product for anyone who’s looking to replace eggs and/or anyone adhering to the vegan or vegetarian lifestyle. Also, to anyone who’s looking for an egg alternative that doesn’t contain soy, as this egg patty features mung bean protein, instead. Be sure to pick some up at during your next visit to your local Whole Foods!
