We made it to the last day of 2020.
My, my, my what a year it’s been. If this year was good for nothing else, it has certainly been self reflection; reflecting on things that truly matter, things that bring us happiness, and the things we’ve taken for granted (like human interaction).
A recent mishap with a loved one has caused me to do some heavy reflecting. It made me realize what I’ve been missing in my life. I kept asking myself “how can I bring about major change? How can I grow and be better, kinder, more patient?” Turns out the answer was discipline. I have a hard time hearing the word “No” and denying myself and all it’s managed to do is feed my ego. I am also easily distracted, which has taken a toll on my concentration. In realizing where I’ve been going wrong, it hit me that these 2 flaws have been throwing a wrench in other operations of my life such as social, emotional and physical issues, issues I’m hoping to rid myself of in the upcoming year.
Every year, instead of a resolution, I make a declaration and dedicate the year to following through. This year was the year of change, ironically enough.
Next year? Discipline.
- Less excuses and more action.
- Less complaining and more problem solving.
- Less taking things personally more being receptive to criticism.
- Less settling down and more pushing forward.
I will push myself beyond my limits because I know I’m not a finished product and I refuse to stop my growth here. I will continue to grow as an artist, but more importantly as a person, until I’m 100% happy with myself 🙂
I invite YOU to do some reflecting today.
Really think about how you can improve in one aspect of your life and how this change can influence other areas. The hardest part is being honest with yourself but, I have faith that you can do it! (I recommend writing it down in a journal or notebook.)
If you could dedicate 2021 to something, what would it be? What sort of changes are you hoping 2021 brings about?
Let me know in the comments.
I want to thank you, whoever you are. Thank you for tuning in and hearing me. Thank you for your feedback. Thank you for motivating me with your presence alone. It means so much. I hope to see more of you in the New Year.
Unit our next adventure…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Friday Dec 25, 2020
I hope that Santa brought you everything you wished for this year!
As promised, here are the highlights from my family’s Holiday celebrations:
We had a visit from two of my favorite people in the World, my cousin Kevin and his girlfriend Elisha who flew in from Georgia for the Holidays! To make sure they got the full NYC experience, we ordered pizza for dinner. Look at these festive pizza boxes we got courtesy of our local pizza shop
This is just one of many reasons I love the Holiday season, it really brings out the joy and appreciation in people. I wish I could bottle up this feeling just to have it on tap throughout the year.
After a long night of laughs, drinks, good conversation (I live for nights like these) and the opening of one gift or 3 (she just couldn’t help herself, the wrapping paper was just too tempting) it was time to retire for the night. But not before preparing cookies and milk for Santa! Delilah even wrote him a letter.
I thought adding the reply would be a nice touch. I knew it was a risk but, as a Writer, I couldn’t resist. I mean, she asked him questions for God’s sake!
I love the innocence of children.
The fact that they still believe in magic is so special to me. At one point, we confessed to her that we were Santa (due to her conveniently stumbling upon one of her gifts before Christmas) and then, mysteriously, she forgot o.O
So, my Husband and I decided to stick with it. Why not let her experience the magic a little while longer? Each year, to appease her, we make sure to tag gifts from her parents AND Santa and prepare milk and cookies. Anthony even found an app where you can send texts to Santa! He even replies with her full name for personalization!
This year was the first year we incorporated writing a letter but, I hope this tradition sticks around.
Even though we went to bed at 1 a.m., I rose at around 7:30-8:00. I mean, it’s Christmas. No one sleeps in on Christmas.
Shockingly, my Husband was next to rise. Delilah woke up to a melodic “MERRY CHRISTMAS!” and then, from there, it was time to commence with the gift opening.
First we hit the stockings.
My Husband was happy to receive his 3 pack beard oil conditioner by Viking Revolution. It was cute and compact so it made the perfect stocking stuffer.
Mmm it smells so good!
Ladies, I recommend this for any beard-wearing Baes.
Bae hooked me up with a gold choker.
Delilah found 2 Holiday cards, a Funko Pop of her fave My Hero Academia character, Toga, and of course a Roblox gift card. She jumped for joy just as any 7 year old child would upon seeing a gift card for their favorite video game.
Next, we opened the gifts under the tree.
We decided to go one for one, this way each person and each gift were given individual attention.
UNFORTUNATELY HALF OF BAES GIFTS ARE STILL IN TRANSIT DESPITE ME ORDERING THEM A MONTH IN ADVANCE (smh did ANYONE else experience this problem!?)
I managed to get the stocking stuffers and 2 other gifts in time, so he was (still) happy. I gifted him
- “The Sworn Sword” which is a prequel graphic novel to one of his favorite series’ Game Of Thrones,
- a Vikings Shaving Kit (I believe in this brand, clearly)
- and this candy pullover jacket which we discovered during Anime Con 2020
You can find this and more anime streetwear at: https://www.valezalifestyle.com/
When it was my turn to open gifts, first up was the gift from my dear friend Amanda, who is a friend FIRST co-worker SECOND. Shoutout to co-workers turned life long friends. They’re rare, few and far between. But this one had me upon walking in with a Harry Potter tee.
Thanks, Missendei, you’re a real one.
My cousin and Bae, also knowing my heart, got me a few more geeky things. Deku was definitely a theme:
Before it was all said and done, Bae got me with a gag gift:
And made me cry with the most thoughtful/romantic gift I’ve EVER received
You can see in this photo, I still have tears in my eyes. Here’s a close up:
This is no ordinary picture ladies and gentleman. These are the exact coordinates of the location, AND the constellations that were in the sky, the day we got married.
WHAT A GIFT!
Delilah was blessed with gifts, not just from her parents, but from Santa and her grandparents.
Mommy’s little scientist walked around in her lab coat all day long and even FT her Grandfather who watched her do an experiment!
You can purchase a Science Kit for your little one, here.
One gift that stood out to me were these paintable-edible-homemade sugar cookies by Chrissy Anthony’s Delightful treats. It came gift wrapped with:
- 5 frosted individually wrapped Holiday themed cookies, each image left blank for customization.
- An edible paint kit
- 2 paint brushes
I thought it was the perfect gift for a child: both yummy AND creative. Buy one for your little one, here. Shoutout to Stephanie for blessing Delilah with these.
After spending the day riding the high of gift giving (and sharing a few laughs watching the classic Home Alone 2) we ended our festivities with a formal dinner: roasted chicken, asparagus, broccoli, red onions and carrots.
Bae said the addition of the balsamic vinegar marinade was a nice touch.
For dessert we had apple cider donuts (yum) and Bae and I had a red wine to top it all off. Delilah enjoyed her sparkling red grape juice.
I asked the clan to dress up, because, I didn’t want us being home to take away from the importance of the Holiday. Putting on a cute outfit made the day feel all the more special, at least for me.
I gave a toast to a great day, the end of a terrible year, and all of the exciting things to come (more on that later).
Once our bellies were nice and full, it was time to snuggle up and watch DC’S WW84 on HBO Max.
OMG IT WAS SO AWESOME!
All in all, I’d say the Holiday was heartwarming, fun, festive and delightful.
How did your Christmas turn out? Tell me about it in the comments.
Until our next adventure…

Good morning lovelies!
Christmas is in less than a week.
I’m soooo excited ^_^
As expected, I’ll be doing something fun and festive with the family. Baking cookies and watching movies in our matching Reindeer pajamas are just some of the things on our itinerary. Maybe, if you’re lucky, I’ll share a recipe with you 🙂
I also plan to dress up for dinner. I’ll be sure to share pics ^_^ What are your plans for Christmas? Are you staying home? Going to visit family? Let me know in the comments.
This past weekend was dedicated to education. As an Artist, I think it’s important to be ever growing so be prepared for frequent changes and updates.
I believe there’s always room for growth in art, and I’m not ashamed to say that my early work is not my best work. But I’m fine with that! I’ll perfect my editing skills until my work is tip top. I solemnly swear to continue to learn and grow until I maximize my potential because I always want my readers to have the best experience possible.
Plus, I love the idea of growing with you!
So, for my subscribers, you may be receiving notifications about previous posts being re-posted.

Is there anything more beautiful than Snowfall in the City?
Me and the family hit a nearby park and had ourselves some Winter fun. We threw snowballs, jumped, flipped and rolled around. It was awesome. We definitely lived our best snow day lives.
Next time, I have to be sure to bring a sled ❤
Until our next adventure…

OMG! MY SITE JUST HAD A RELAUNCH AND THE FEEDBACK HAS BEEN AMAZING! Thank you guys for your (continued) support! It means a lot to me! People have been responding so well and it feels so good to have that affirmation! To have your HARD WORK pay off! I put my foot in this, y’all. But really, I did it for you guys. You’re the reason I try so hard. I wanted to make sure your experience here was maximized to it’s highest potential. Sometimes, especially right now, you need a space to escape: Let me be your escape.
I gave each page it’s own personal touch so, in a way, the site IS me: the many facets of me ::wink:: It’s designed so that each page is stand alone, so no 2 pages are the same experience.
Some pages are more colorful,
some have music,
and some just let the words do the work. I’d say, I did a pretty darn good job.(Yes, I’m a tooter of my own horn. You gotta be your own cheerleader, ma.)
Be sure to explore! Have fun with it ^_^
Success is a many grand thing, but it’s not why I do it: YOU’RE why I do it. Yes, you! My aim is to help people. In anyway I can. So if you come here to laugh with me, cry with me, geek with me, or just marvel at my beauty (lol) just know I’m doing it for you! Sometimes, you just need a safe space to BE. My goal is to provide you with that.
So to the readers: thank you.
Love you to the Moon and back ❤
Until our next adventure…

People always ask me why I’m so nice. To them, I reply: “You should see the way it makes people feel”; Nothing makes people happier than random acts of kindness. Today I spoke to a customer service rep on the phone and before we disconnected I wished her “Happy Holidays”: you would’ve thought it was the best wish she received all day. She thanked me PROFUSELY. Either she was REALLY good at doing her job, or this was her 1000th call and I was the first one to throw some Holiday cheer her way. My money’s on the former. I love being nice. I wouldn’t trade it for the World. I get satisfaction in knowing that I’m making someone’s day. And guess what? It costs me nothing. Literally nothing. Being kind is free-ninety-nine. AND there’s benefits to it! See how much further you get in your negotiations with people the next time you choose to lead with love rather than fear or anger. Fear and anger may work for a time, but it will always. breed. resentment. Genuine acts of kindness go a long way. It’s touching. Rare. Moving. And (much) Appreciated.
Random: I’m constantly being asked if I’m from the South just because people can’t fathom the idea that someone from New York truly has someone else’s interest at heart. I know. I’m a real unicorn. I’m in an island all by myself, practically. It’s just me, Steve Carell and Post Malone (have you ever seen that guy in interviews?! he’s like, GENUINELY a nice guy).
It’s not hard, really, being nice. The formula is very simple: when interacting with others, I put them first. Its very rare that this causes me an inconvenience. I allow people to speak and then I listen to them. I take the time to have genuine interest. What’s the harm in taking 10 minutes of my day to hear someone else’s story? I spend all day inside my own head. I don’t mind the break. Now, keep in mind I said genuine. Emphasis on the genuineness. This is not a situa-sh in which you can fake your way to victory. People will see right through that shit then it’s back to the drawing board. No one likes a fake. Be gone. In all seriousness: take the time to be kind. The World is filled with so many broken people. Just a bunch of lost souls bumping into each other trying to find ways to fill their voids. You never know the impact you can have on someone’s life at any given time. Whether you take the time to hold the door open for a woman who has her hands full or you wish a customer service rep a “Happy Holiday”, it pays to be nice. I hope you’re having a wonderful day.
Until our next adventure…
-Happy Holidays ❤
